What is Ranching for Wildlife?

Don’t be fooled by the name. Ranching for Wildlife is NOT a high-fenced ranch in any way. All hunting is for wild, free-roaming animals. Always.

What is Ranching for Wildlife ? We get this question all the time! Ranching for Wildlife is a program that private landowners with at lease 10,000 deeded acres can enter into with Colorado Parks and Wildlife. The program allows more flexibility for both the landowner and the Outfitter when it comes to efficient management of wildlife and livestock on this private property. Wildlife management by Colorado Parks and Wildlife is more efficient in terms of harvesting for numbers and management for each of the various species (elk, mule deer, pronghorn antelope).

Ranching For Wildlife allows us a 90-day season for each species and we are able to tailor the hunt dates to times when hunting is at its best on our particular property. This allows us the opportunity to hunt pronghorn antelope during the September rut, mule deer during the late November rut, and elk during both the September rut and the late migration season.

Ranching for Wildlife also allows us to use any legal weapon at any time, although most of our hunting is done with a rifle. A hunter has the option of starting his hunt with a bow or muzzleloader and switching to a rifle, or vice-versa.

One of the biggest benefits of the program is that all licenses are guaranteed. There is no application and draw for tags and no preference points are needed! We are issued a certain number of Landowner Vouchers each year - you simply show up and buy your license from us directly (we are also a Licensing Agent here at RTS Hunting, LLC).
